Poll has good news for Mass. ballot questions, except these two
Recent polling data indicates that the majority of proposed ballot measures in Massachusetts are receiving strong support from voters, though two initiatives appear to be struggling to gain traction ahead of the upcoming election.

Widespread Approval for Several Proposals
The survey, conducted by the MassINC Polling Group, reveals that a significant portion of likely voters back a range of ballot questions set to appear in November. Issues such as expanding access to dental care, regulating gig economy companies, and implementing new environmental standards are among those enjoying broad approval.
- Dental insurance reform: 68% support
- Ride-share driver classification: 62% support
- Environmental policy updates: 59% support
These figures suggest that voters are largely in favor of measures aimed at increasing consumer protections and addressing climate concerns.
Two Measures Lagging Behind
Despite the overall positive outlook, the poll highlights two ballot questions that are currently facing resistance from the electorate. The proposal to eliminate the MCAS standardized testing requirement for high school graduation is supported by just 41% of respondents, with 49% opposed. Similarly, the measure seeking to repeal the state’s new tax on high-income earners has only 38% support, while 54% oppose it.
- MCAS graduation requirement repeal: 41% support, 49% oppose
- Millionaire’s tax repeal: 38% support, 54% oppose
These results indicate that voters are hesitant to roll back education standards or reverse recent tax reforms targeting the wealthiest residents.
Implications for the November Election
With the election approaching, supporters and opponents of each measure are expected to intensify their campaigns. The polling data suggests that while most initiatives are on track for approval, those with less public backing may face an uphill battle in the coming months.
