A woman in Nanaimo found herself without her e-bike after offering help to a stranger in need, turning a good deed into an unfortunate experience.

The incident occurred on Monday afternoon near the intersection of Victoria Avenue and 102nd Street. According to police, the woman was approached by a man who asked to borrow her phone, claiming he needed to call his mother for assistance.
While the woman was distracted by the phone call, the man seized the opportunity to take her e-bike and quickly rode away, leaving her stranded.
Suspect Description
- Male, approximately 5’9” tall
- Medium build
- Wearing a black hoodie and dark pants
- Last seen heading southbound on Victoria Avenue
The e-bike is described as a black and blue model with a distinctive rear basket and a sticker on the frame.

Nanaimo RCMP are currently investigating the theft and are urging anyone with information to come forward. Officers remind the public to exercise caution when approached by strangers and to keep personal belongings secure, even when trying to assist others.
