Expanding the Tradition
Typically held in the fall, the Day of Caring event was expanded this year to include an additional spring date, responding to increased demand from both volunteers and organizations seeking support. This new initiative gave more people the chance to get involved and help meet the needs of the community.
Making a Difference Across the Region
From painting classrooms and landscaping playgrounds to assembling care packages and organizing food pantries, volunteers tackled a wide variety of tasks. Teams from local businesses, schools, and civic groups joined forces to make a positive impact throughout the area.
- At the Boys & Girls Club, volunteers refreshed outdoor spaces and set up new activity stations.
- At the Community Food Bank, teams sorted and packed hundreds of boxes for families in need.
- Several schools received help with garden cleanups and classroom organization.
Community Spirit on Display
Organizers noted the enthusiasm and dedication of participants, many of whom returned from previous years or brought along friends and family members for their first Day of Caring experience. The event fostered connections among volunteers and the organizations they served, strengthening the sense of community.
Looking Ahead
With the success of this added spring event, United Way is considering making the extra Day of Caring a regular part of its annual calendar. The fall Day of Caring is still scheduled for later this year, and organizers hope to see even more volunteers join in to support local causes.
